Detailed description of Emerald Crest Golf Club
Emerald Crest Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Palermo, New York, about 8 miles north-west of Fulton.
The Emerald Crest golf course first opened for play in 1960. The course was designed by John Mayne.
Emerald Crest is a Par - 68, 5,435 yard course. The course is hilly and is situated in a heavily wooded area. Four ponds and a stream come into play on the course.
The signature hole is number 17, a 200-yard, par 3, requiring a long, accurate tee shot over water down to the green.
Greens are Poa Annua and the fairways are winter rye. The course is open from April through October from 8 AM - 9:30 PM weekdays and 7 AM - 9:30 PM weekends.
From the forward tees the Emerald Crest golf course measures 4365 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 500 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 2, a par-3 that plays to 130 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, a 405 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Emerald Crest golf course is # 2, a 130 yard par-3.

This course has the BEST greens in the area for a public course. The owner takes great pride in the course and maintains it as if it was a major private course.

4th of July. Pace of play on the front was good, greens were slow and unreceptive with approach shot, and fairways were dead brown color.
From the 10th hole on we got pushed around the course by a 3some and 2 2somes. My girlfriend was struck in the leg by a golf ball on hole 16 by the people behind us. The guy did not apologize, only said he thought that would get our attention. We end up letting the 3 some, a 2 some, and another 2 some play thru with 2 holes to play.
When we went to the pro-shop to turn in keys and tell the pro what happened and that I was very disappointed and my girlfriend had a welt on her leg. He proceeds to tell me my girlfriend and the other girl in our 4-some should not be on the golf course because they are apparently not good enough and they should only be on the driving range as its proper golf etiquette. Etiquette Is not letting 2-somes out behind 4-somes and pairing people up.
The course is not novice golfer or family friendly whatsoever. I'm a scratch golfer, won a national championship in college, have played most every course between Syracuse and Buffalo and I have got to say this was the worst experience I've ever had. I'd be very surprised if my girlfriend picks her clubs up again because of this outing, on the 4th of July nonetheless.
So much for growing the game.
